This program is offered online through TN eCampus.
The Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice provides preparation for individuals seeking employment in the field of criminal justice. Criminal justice covers a range of occupations in corrections, courts and law enforcement. All require the ability to handle stress, potentially dangerous situations, and a workload that can change by the minute.
Career Opportunities
The two-year Criminal Justice Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree is for students seeking careers in law enforcement, corrections, probation/parole, private security, juvenile delinquency and other counseling-related fields.
Careers may also be found with federal agencies such as U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Marshalls, U.S. Secret Service, Transportation Security Administration, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security, however, some of these agencies require a four-year degree. Students who plan to pursue a Bachelor’s degree should follow the Tennessee Transfer Pathway Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Criminal Justice.
Transfer/Advising
The A.A.S. degree is designed to prepare a student for employment upon graduation. Some universities, at their discretion, accept some technical courses for transfer. A student who plans to transfer to a university should consult his/her advisor and the receiving university about transfer and articulation policies. Failure to do so could result in loss of transfer credits.
