							  | | Associate of Arts and Associate of Science Transfer Degree Areas of Emphasis Associate of Arts and Associate of Science DegreesStudents planning to earn a baccalaureate degree at a four-year college or university can complete their first two years at Nashville State Community College and receive an Associate of Science (A.S.) or Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree. The primary goal of these degrees is to prepare students to successfully pursue the baccalaureate degree. Students must complete the general education core requirements plus 19 hours in an area of emphasis. Areas of EmphasisThe A.A. and A.S. degrees are designed for students who plan to transfer into baccalaureate degrees after graduation from Nashville State. If the transfer institution is already known, the student should contact that institution and follow its requirements. If the transfer institution is not already known, the Nashville State courses listed below are recommended as part of the 60 credit hours required for graduation. Students should select an area of emphasis in the intended university major. The recommended courses for these university majors listed below are suggested and do not represent requirements for any specific university. Nashville State does not offer a Tennessee Transfer Pathway for these majors. A.A. and A.S. degree areas of emphasis suggest the courses that are most likely to transfer, but are not guaranteed. It is always best to contact your selected transfer university as early as possible. Students wishing to graduate with an Associate of Arts degree must have two semesters of the same college-level foreign language.
