ASL 1004 - Visual Vernacular 2 Credits 2 Class Hours
This course elective develops skills in non-verbal communication to increase student comfort in communicating in a visual medium. Students will experience and use techniques related to facial expression, gestures, pantomime, and body language. Emphasis will be placed on American Sign Language elements’ usage of eye gaze, classifiers, roleshift, and utilization of space. Evaluations of students will be based on story creation and performance. Critical thinking and self-assessment will be emphasized.
