SURG 1006 - Basic Chemistry/Pharmacology 2 Credits 2 Class Hours
An introduction to basic chemistry and pharmacology with emphasis on drugs and techniques used in the operating room. Topics include medication measurement and delivery, types and actions of medications, routes of administration and medications used in surgery. A grade of “C” or above must be earned in courses to meet requirements for enrollment in subsequent courses. A grade of “C” or above in all Surgical Technology curriculum courses must be earned prior to graduation. Prerequisite(s): Completion of all competencies in Learning Support math.
