Graduates of this program should be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to apply critical thinking skills
- Write clear, well-organized documents.
- Communicate effectively in personal and professional situations.
- Know how to locate, evaluate, and use information sources.
- Understand basic math and scientific terms/concepts and procedures/processes.

Philosophy - 6 Credits
2 Courses with PHIL prefix*** - 3 Credits each
Foreign Language - 6 Credits
(One-year sequence in a single foreign language; at this time, the only option at NSCC is Spanish.)
General Electives - 7 Credits

Note:
* This course is part of the general education core.
** NSCC Course is COMM 2045 - Public Speaking 3 Credits.
*** Students who plan to transfer to UT Chattanooga should not take a PHIL prefix course to fulfill a general education requirement.
Additional course requirements: The Tennessee Board of Regents requires that students either demonstrate the appropriate skill levels in math, reading, and/or writing before enrolling in college-level courses or enroll in appropriate co-requisite experiences with college-level courses to develop competency in those skills while performing college-level work. ACT/SAT scores, classic ACCUPLACER test scores, next-generation ACCUPLACER test scores, or other relevant information determine whether a student needs to enroll in co-requisite courses in math, reading, and/or writing (English).
