Online Learning

Online Learning

Online Learning is the acquisition of knowledge and skills through mediated information and instruction, encompassing all technologies and other forms of learning at a distance, according to the United States Distance Learning Association. The majority of the instruction occurs at a distance when instructor and student are not sharing the same time or space. While maintaining the quality of the on-campus offerings, online learning courses provide convenience and flexibility to students as they pursue their educational goals.

The delivery modes for Nashville State online courses are Web (online asynchronous) and Virtual (Zoom classes). They are designed to appeal and assist individuals who are unable to travel back and forth to class on a regular basis or who have work schedules that vary and are unable to commit to a weekly schedule. Online degree and certificate programs, as well as general education courses, are available to complete online. Utilize the NSCC class schedule to review available course offerings by semester.

To assist students in being successful online, two types of orientations are available. Students may engage in an online Web orientation or orientation via zoom. Orientations provide information on the course management system, course format, login procedures, syllabus, textbook requirements and other online concerns.

TBR TN eCampus

Tennessee Board of Regents’ (TBR) community colleges and universities have joined together to offer TN eCampus courses that have been jointly developed by partner institutions. Nashville State participates in TN eCampus by offering these courses to students each semester.

TN eCampus courses are fully online, asynchronous courses offered through our TBR partner institutions for an additional fee. Students can register for TN eCampus courses through myNSCC, but the instructor might not necessarily be an NSCC faculty member. Credits earned in TN eCampus courses are included as part of your overall Nashville State degree requirements and are no different than any other degree awarded by Nashville State.

Visit tnecampus.org for more information about the TN eCampus.
