The Computer Information Technology - Data Analytics Concentration prepares students for entry-level data analytics positions requiring knowledge, setup and usage of business intelligence, and data analysis techniques. Students will have the ability to extract, manipulate, and visualize data in support of organizational decision making. The Data Analytics concentration combines skills from computer information technology, statistics, and analytics. Course work will include instructional information regarding databases, SQL, analysis of big data, data visualization, programming, mathematical and statistical techniques, and project management. Emphasis is placed on strong communication skills necessary to interact with key stakeholders to achieve their desired objectives.
Graduates of the program concentration should be able to:
- Analyze mathematical/statistical solutions to resolve organizational data needs.
- Develop a data driven solution using current industry technology.
- Perform data analysis using current programming languages.
- Design, develop, and analyze data using a data visualization dashboard.
Transfer/Advising
The A.A.S. degree is designed to prepare a student for employment upon graduation. Some universities, at their discretion, accept some technical courses for transfer. A student who plans to transfer to a university should consult his/her advisor and the receiving university about transfer and articulation policies. Failure to do so could result in loss of transfer credits. If completed, this degree will transfer into the BS in Professional Studies program at Middle Tennessee State University.
