CIVT 1200 - Geographic Information Systems


3 Credits
2 Class hours, 2 lab hours

This course provides the foundation for understanding what gis is, what it can do and how others are using it.  Topics may include; basic functions of GIS, why a GIS is so powerful, what coordinate systems and map projections are and why they are important.  A student will work GIS software to visualize geographic data, create maps, query a GIS data base, perform special analysis using common analysis tool and solve geographic problems using a systematic approach. Prerequisite(s): None
