ACT 2160 - Building Utilities 3 Credits 3 Class Hours
An advanced-level course designed to familiarize the student with the principles of active and passive indoor climate control systems, electrical power distribution and lighting systems, plumbing, life safety and fire protection systems. Topics include plumbing, mechanical and electrical symbols, definitions, minimum facilities, abbreviations, standard locations and sizes, minimum and maximum requirements, selected proper installations, estimate of loads, and required services. The student solves practical problems in the layout and design of selected utilities for a single-family residence and a commercial project. Prerequisite(s): ACT 1161 and MATH 1710
