Associate of Arts (A.A.), Associate of Fine Arts (A.F.A.), Associate of Science (A.S.), and Associate of Science in Teaching (A.S.T.) Tennessee Transfer Pathway Degrees
Universal TennesseeTransfer Pathways (TTPs) help students who plan to transfer to Tennessee public universities to complete their baccalaureate degrees. A student who completes all the courses listed on a Universal Tennessee Transfer Path will earn an A.A., A.F.A., A.S., or A.S.T. degree at NSCC and is guaranteed that all the courses will count toward that university major. The Universal Tennessee Transfer Pathways’ prescribed curriculum must be followed exactly to ensure all hours transfer.
The student is responsible for following the TTP exactly to ensure transfer of all hours.
In addition, students should be aware of the following:
The courses contained in each TTP are required to receive the Associate of Arts, Associate of Fine Arts, Associate of Science in Teaching or the Associate of Science degrees. Some of these courses, especially in math and science, may have pre-requisites that students must also complete.
Particular universities or programs may have additional requirements that apply, especially:
- All universities require demonstrated competency in a single foreign language at the intermediate level for a Bachelor of Arts degree. This requires a second year of foreign language, which students can take at the community college.
- Also at some universities, foreign language may be required in certain programs leading to the Bachelor of Science degree.
- Community college students who intend to pursue programs of study in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville must complete the following sequences of courses to fulfill the six-hour history requirement in general education at Nashville State:
- HIST 1110 and 1120, Survey of World Civilization I and II
Upon transfer, community college students must complete all the upper division course requirements of the respective university.
Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Associate of Science (A.S.) Degree Areas of Emphasis
A.A. and A.S. degree areas of emphasis suggest the courses that are most likely to transfer, but are not guaranteed. It is always best to contact your selected transfer university as early as possible.
