TECHNICAL CERTIFICATE

The Process Operator technical certificate prepares students for entry-level employment in manufacturing and process control, pending TBR approval. The program is designed to prepare entry-level workers in industries that include, but are not limited to, chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, power generation, pulp and paper, refining, and waste water control.
Graduates of the program concentration should be able to:
- Feed raw material and processing agents into plant machinery.
- Prepare and measure raw material.
- Set controls and operate machinery.
- Take samples for testing, test products and record process data.
- Check instruments and equipment to make sure of correct operation, and be aware of any abnormal operating conditions.
Transfer/Advising
The technical certificate is designed to prepare a student for employment upon graduation. Some universities, at their discretion, accept some technical courses for transfer. A student who plans to transfer to a university should consult his/her advisor and the receiving university about transfer and articulation policies. Failure to do so could result in loss of transfer credits. All credits in the Process Operator technical certificate are applicable to the Process Technician Concentration of the Industrial Process Control Technology A.A.S. degree.
Career Opportunities
Students who graduate from the program may obtain positions as entry-level process operators.
