3-D Design and Graphics Technical Certificate

The 3-D Design and Graphics Technical Certificate prepares students for employment in a variety of careers including architectural design, manufacturing and product design, video games, television, and multimedia productions. Students learn the concepts and processes of 3-D design and gain a significant working knowledge of the most current industry software applications. An integral part of this program is the ability to create and present ideas. Most students finish the program in one year.

Graduates of the program should be able to:

  • Use 3-D design techniques and create presentations using 3-D design graphics;
  • Show proficiency in 3-D visualization and concepts;
  • Create 3-D designs using multiple software applications and in multiple formats; and
  • Present designs using multiple mediums including multimedia, print, Web, and video.

The program will culminate in students creating a portfolio for presentation at job interviews.

Transfer/Advising

The certificate is designed so that a student can apply all of the required courses toward a Nashville State A.A.S. degree. A student who plans to apply the certificate toward an A.A.S. degree should consult his/her advisor about articulation options.

Total Certificate Requirements: 25-26 Credits


 
* If a student enters the program with little or no previous drafting background, then that student must take ENGT 1150 - Technical Graphics  prior to or along with CAD 1200 .

Additional course requirements: The Tennessee Board of Regents requires that students either demonstrate the appropriate skill levels in math, reading, and/or writing before enrolling in college-level courses or enroll in appropriate co-requisite experiences with college-level courses to develop competency in those skills while performing college-level work. ACT/SAT scores, ACCUPLACER test scores, COMPASS test scores, or other relevant information determine whether a student needs to enroll in co-requisite courses in math, reading, and/or writing (English).
