SURG 1005 - Microbiology for Surgical Tech

An introduction to basic microbiology, immunology, and disease processes with emphasis on antimicrobial techniques used in the operating room. Topics include historical microbiology, pathogenicity, the immune response, sterilization, and antiseptic and disinfection techniques. A grade of “C” or above must be earned in courses to meet requirements for enrollment in subsequent courses. A grade of “C” or above in all Surgical Technology curriculum courses must be earned prior to graduation.
