ENGL 2055 - African American Literature


(Honors Option Offered)

3 Class Hours

A survey of African American literature from the Colonial period through the present. Topics include the works of significant African American writers. Poems, stories, novels, memoirs, and songs are examined for their insight into the lived experiences and discourses of African Americans as well as themes and experiences common to human existence. Cultural and creative expression is analyzed within its social and historical contexts..

  Prerequisite(s): ENGL 1010 and ENGL 1020. Note: ENGL 2055 meets the general education requirement for Humanities as a literature course or otherwise.
