MATH 1000 - Foundations of Algebra

This course is designed to prepare students to have the necessary skills to be successful in algebra intensive college-level mathematics courses. The curriculum provides multiple representations of applications and problem-solving, both algebraically and with the aid of technology. Topics include performing operations with polynomials and rational expressions; analysis of quadratic and rational functions and graphs; solving quadratic, rational, and radical equations; and graphing and evaluating polynomial and exponential functions. Prerequisite(s): Level 2 placement in Math or concurrent enrollment in MATH 0815. Note: This course will not satisfy general education math requirements for associate degrees or technical certificates. The purpose of this course is preparation for CHEM 1110, or MATH 1130 or 1710 for those students with a math placement level 1 upon admission or for those students who reached math placement level 2 by completing a SAILS program in high school.
