Online Learning

 

Nashville State Community College (NSCC) offers a variety of courses through distance learning formats, also referred to as “online learning”, for students who desire flexibility in scheduling and instructional methods. Available online learning format options at NSCC include Web (online asynchronous) with no regularly scheduled class times, Hybrid (part on-campus scheduled meetings and part online), and Virtual (synchronous online using video conferencing technology with specific login class times). Students may combine online learning classes with traditional face-to-face courses or may complete programs of study online for some available programs.

Online Education course offerings which are guided by the Tennessee Board of Regents Distance Education policy: 2.05.00.00 which states that “Distance education can be executed in a variety of ways and is consistent in that there is some degree of physical separation of the teacher and the learners. Communication, instruction, and assessment take place through, or is supported by, technological means with focus on student-to-student, student-to-content, and instructor-to-student interaction” within the online classroom. All online courses contain the same outcomes as a corresponding conventional classroom course. Advising, student support, and other forms of student assistance are also available online.

NSCC provides guidance for student requirements on the Online Education website with information related student support in accessing online courses requirements for taking Online, Hybrid, and Virtual courses, including access to a computer, camera, microphone, and reliable high-speed internet. TBR TN eCampus

Nashville State Community College, along with other Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) institutions, participates in online course offerings through TN eCampus. The online education offered through TN eCampus have been developed by partner institutions. All campuses in the partnership are regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). TN eCampus courses are fully online, asynchronous courses offered through our TBR partner institutions for an additional fee. NSCC students can register for TN eCampus courses, but the instructor might not necessarily be an NSCC faculty member. Credits earned in TN eCampus courses are included as part of the overall Nashville State degree requirements and are no different than any other degree awarded by Nashville State.
