The Drafting and Construction Technical Certificate is designed to give students a basic understanding of concepts used in the construction industry. Students gain job skills such as design principles and drafting. Topics include an introduction to materials and methods of construction, residential design, light construction, construction drawings, and familiarization of computer-aided drafting using AutoCAD software.
The Drafting and Construction Technical Certificate is offered at the Cookeville Campus. The certificate includes three courses for a total of ten credit hours and can be completed in one year. All of the courses can be applied toward the Architectural, Civil and Construction Engineering Technology A.A.S. degree.
Students should discuss course scheduling with their advisor. The certificate is designed so that a student can apply all of the required courses toward the Nashville State A.A.S. degree in Architectural, Civil and Construction Engineering Technology. A student who plans to apply the certificate toward an A.A.S. degree should consult his/her advisor about articulation options.
