Industrial Process Control Technology

The Industrial Process Control Technology program is designed to provide skills for those who are interested in a career as a process control technician or maintenance technician. The program trains students to work as a key member of a team of  people responsible for planning, analyzing and controlling the production of products – from acquisition of raw materials through the production and distribution of products to customers in a variety of industries. These industries include, but are not limited to, chemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, power generation, pulp and paper, refining, and waste water treatment.

Maintenance Technician Concentration


Maintenance Technician jobs for well-trained individuals in Tennessee include opportunities in the middle Tennessee area with some of our program partners – businesses such as DuPont, Matheson Tri-Gas, Erachem Comilog, and Chemetall Foote Corporation. This program will prepare the student to take the National Center for Construction Education and Research national certification exams.

Graduates of the Maintenance Technician program should show proficiency in these fields:

  • Industrial Electricity
  • Instrumentation
  • Pipefitting
  • Millwright

Total Required - Associate’s Degree: 60 Credits

Note:


Cooperative Education work experience in Industrial Process Control Technology and can be an important addition to a student’s formal classroom work. Co-op courses, if appropriate, may substitute for technical courses up to nine credit hours with the prior approval of the department head. All Co-op work must have department head approval. The Career Employment Center will provide the correct course numbers. Students participating in Cooperative Education are encouraged to work a minimum of two terms.
